International Working Women's Day

In honour of International Working Women's Day, NASA's Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity Committee and Political Action & Member Education Committee will be hosting a joint event to connect members across campus, highlight the contributions of women-identifying people to the labour movement, and discuss the issues they still face in the workplace today.

Thursday, March 19 | 11:30 am-1:30 pm
Orion Room (lower level, SUB) and online

We are happy to welcome Donna Coombs-Montrose, the current City of Edmonton Historian Laureate and a Lifetime Member of NASA, as our guest speaker for this event! Donna is a community activist and history advocate who has lived in Edmonton and worked at the University of Alberta for over 20 years. She currently serves as president of the board of the Western Carnival Development Association, which organizes the annual Cariwest Caribbean Arts Festival, and was a founding member of the Alberta Labour History Institute (ALHI).

We hope this event gives NASA members an opportunity to connect and socialize with other members interested in women's and workers' rights. However, there is also the option to attend Donna's talk virtually if you are unable to attend in person (please note: the online portion of the event will begin at 12:05 pm).

A light lunch will be provided for members who register in advance to attend in person.
